Install A Tv Converter Box With A Dvd Player

Install a TV Converter Box With a DVD Player

A DTV (digital television) converter box allows your analog television to receive digital broadcast signals. If you have yet to connect both your DTV converter box and DVD player to your analog television, doing so is not a difficult task. All you need to do is to connect the cables that came with both the TV converter box and DVD player to the correct ports on your television.

Instructions

1. Turn your television around so the "Antenna In," "Video In" and "Audio In" ports are facing you.

2. Place the DVD player and its cables next to your television.

3. Plug one end of the DVD player cables (yellow, red and white) into the DVD player's "Out" ports-plug the yellow cable into the "Video Out" port; plug the red cable into the right "Audio Out" port; and plug the white cable into the left "Audio Out" port.

4. Plug the other end of the DVD player cables (yellow, red and white) into your television's "In" ports-plug the yellow cable into the "Video In" port; plug the red cable into right "Audio In" port; and plug the white cable into the left "Audio In" port.

Note: Depending on the model of television you have, the "Video/Audio In" ports may be located in the front.

5. Plug the DVD player's power cable into an electrical outlet.

6. Place the TV converter box and its cables next to your television. Your cables should include a coax cable and the converter box's power cable.

7. Plug one end of the coax cable into the DTV converter box's "Coax Out," "To TV" or "Antenna Out" port.

8. Plug the other end of the coax cable into your television's "Antenna In" or "Coax In" port.

9. Plug the digital TV antenna into the TV converter box's "Antenna In" port.

10. Turn the television around so it is facing you.

11. Place the digital television antenna on top of your television.

12. Turn on the DVD player and insert a DVD.

13. Turn on the television and set it to "Line" or a similar setting to test the DVD Player. You should see the video and hear the audio. If you don't, check to make sure your cables are configured correctly.

14. Turn off the DVD player.

15. Set the "Channel Selection" switch on the back of your TV converter box. This switch controls which channel on your television will receive the digital signal from the converter box. The options are "Channel 3" or "Channel 4." Choose whatever channel is not already being used for broadcasting in your area.

16. Change your television to the channel you selected.

17.Plug the TV converter box's power cable into an electrical outlet.

18. Turn on the DTV converter box. You should see a welcome screen with prompts instructing you to scan for channels and set up preferences. Read and follow any instructions and recommendations that came with the DTV converter box.

If you don't see a welcome screen, check the cable connections.
