Phone Specs Evo 4g

The Taiwan-based company HTC released the touch-screen EVO 4G smartphone in 2010 for use with Sprint's cellular service. As a smartphone, the EVO 4G provides users with personal computing capabilities, in addition to providing basic voice and text services. At the core of the EVO 4G is a 1-gigahertz Qualcomm chipset, which supports Google's Android 2.1 mobile operating system. Apart from these general details, several specifications help illuminate the design and performance of the EVO 4G smartphone.

Size and Battery Specs

The HTC EVO 4G smartphone has dimensions of 4.8 inches high by 2.6 inches wide by 0.5 inches thick. As CNET Reviews points out, while the height and width of the smartphone make it somewhat bulky, the EVO 4G's thickness prevents the smartphone from being too hard to grasp. With its battery attached, the EVO 4G weighs a total of 0.375 lb, or 6 oz. The EVO 4G's battery is rechargeable and has a charge capacity of 1500 milliampere-hours.

Connectivity Specs

As a 4G smartphone, the HTC EVO 4G can send and receive Internet data packets using a fourth-generation cellular network. In comparison to 3G, its predecessor, 4G allows for faster data transmission rates. The EVO 4G also provides GPS connectivity for satellite-based navigation; Bluetooth connectivity for connecting the EVO 4G to wireless headsets and other Bluetooth-enabled devices; and 802.11 b/g wireless local area network connectivity for connecting the EVO 4G to Wi-Fi Internet hotspots.

Memory Specs

The HTC EVO 4G includes two internal memory systems: RAM, which stores data only while the EVO 4G is on; and ROM, which stores data permanently. Unlike with RAM data, a smartphone cannot manipulate its ROM data, only access it. The EVO 4G comes standard with 512 megabytes of RAM and 1 gigabyte of ROM. For transferring data to other devices, the EVO 4G also provides a removable 8GB microSD flash memory card.

Screen Specs

A user controls the HTC EVO 4G via the smartphone's multitouch, touch-sensitive screen. "Multitouch" means that a user can use multiple fingers simultaneously on the screen for complex interfacing. The screen of the EVO 4G measures 4.3 inches along its diagonal and has a wide video graphics array display resolution of 800 horizontal lines of pixels by 480 vertical lines of pixels. The more pixels a screen can generate, the greater level of detail the screen can provide.

Camera Specs

The HTC EVO 4G includes two on-board digital cameras: a front, inward-facing camera for video conferencing and a back, outward-facing camera for general photography activities. While the smartphone's front camera can capture images in 1.3 megapixels and has a fixed focus, smartphone's back camera can capture images in 8 megapixels and has an automatic focus. The 8-megapixel camera also includes an LED flash and can support high-definition video recording.
