Fix A No Signal Error On A Tivo

The Tivo is easier to program than a VCR, has better picture quality and you can set up mass recordings weeks in advanced. Unfortunately, when a Tivo loses its signal, it can be very frustrating trying to get it back. Sometimes the process is as easy as unplugging the machine, while other times you have to re-input all of your original settings. A power outage, damage to your machine and a new modem are all reasons that you might lose your signal.

Instructions

1. Make sure your cable box or satellite tuner is on. If your cable box or tuner is off, the Tivo cannot get a signal.

2. Unplug the Tivo and the wireless adapter from the power source and leave them off for 5 minutes.

3. Plug everything back in and wait the system to reboot itself. If you still have no signal, go on to Step 4.

4. Check your network settings to make sure that you have allowed your Tivo to access your network.

5. Press the Tivo icon at the top of your remote.

6. Scroll down to "Messages & Settings" and click the select button.

7. Scroll down and click on "Settings."

8. Scroll down and click on "Phone & Network."

9. Select "Change Network Settings."

10. Go through the entire set up process. You will need to know your network's name and password and what type of IP address you have (most are DHCP servers and this is the Tivo default). Once this step is complete, you will have your signal back.
