Build A Telescoping Cb Antenna Mast That You Raise With Pulleys & Cable

Citizen Band radio, CB, is a short-distance radio communications system used by both commercial truck drivers and private citizens. Often, CBs are mounted and used inside vehicles and are a good way to call for emergency assistance in areas where there may not be cell phone coverage. However, there are also CB base sets that can be used from the home too. These base sets use telescoping antenna systems that are mounted outside, which are similar to television antenna used before the advent and widespread use of satellite and digital cable television.

Instructions

1. Lay all the pieces of the telescoping CB antenna on the ground.

2. Assemble the upper portion of the CB antenna using a Phillips screwdriver and a socket set. Slip the bottom half of the support bracket onto the main, vertical mast. Insert the mounting bolt and tighten it with the socket set. Slide the horizontal antenna structure through the top section of the support bracket and tighten with the socket set.

3. Loop the antenna wire and the telescoping wire from the top of the antenna down to the bottom while the structure is still on the ground

4. Bolt the mast crank assembly to the lower portion of the mast with the socket set and feed the cable that runs from it upward and attach it to the top of the antenna through the hub, which is a small round clamp. Tighten the wire in the hub with the Phillips screwdriver.

5. Hoist the antenna mast upwards and place the end of it into the antenna mast support tube.

6. Hammer the antenna mast support tube into the ground with a rubber mallet.

7. Test the telescoping hand crank by hand to make sure it works properly.
