If you own a Sony Handycam MiniDV camcorder, you will want to download the software for this device to your computer. Downloading the software allows you to transfer the videos you make with your Handycam MiniDV to your computer so you can edit, view and share them.
Find the Software
You can find the software for your Handycam MiniDV at the Sony website, http://www.sony.com. On top of the home page, find "Service and Support," and click on "Drivers and Software." On this page, under "Option 2: SELECT IT," select "Digital Camcorders" under Product. Then select "MiniDV HandyCam Camcorders" under Series. Under Model, select the model of your Handycam MiniDV. Click "Continue."
Download the Software
On the next page, select your operating system. A list of available files will pop up. If you use Microsoft Vista, for example, you can download the Picture Motion Browser, Picture Package, or both. Choose the files that meet your needs and click the "plus" sign next to them to open up the expandable menu. Click the globe/arrow button next to the file you need to start the download. On the page that appears, click "Download Now."
Install the Software
After the download is complete, double-click the file to install the software. Then, start up the program and begin using the software for your Sony Handycam MiniDV.
