Download Photos From My Camera To Email

Most digital cameras come with a USB cable.

After a day of shooting pictures, many people are eager to share their shots with others. There are a number of options that exist: posting them to online photo albums such as through Flickr or Facebook. But you also can download photos to e-mail them to a handful of friends. While, your camera model and computer operating system may vary, the process of extracting images from the camera and attaching them to an e-mail is nearly universal.

Instructions

1. Connect your digital camera to your computer using a USB cable. Plug the cable into your computer's USB port first, then connect it to your camera. Turn on the camera, and wait for the transfer to commence. You may also use a memory card reader to accomplish this, by removing the memory card from your camera and inserting it into the reader. If you elect to use this option, you must turn off the camera first.

2. Wait for a message indicating that your Mac or PC detects the camera. Click through the options to begin the transfer. You may create an new folder to drop all of the images in once they have been transferred. This will make it easier to locate them once you wish to attach them to an e-mail. Do not disconnect the USB cable until after the transfer is complete. If any problems arise, consult your camera's instruction manual, specifically the section on troubleshooting.

3. Pull up your web browser or e-mail provider and log into your account. Next, you should create a new e-mail message and attach your images to the message, by going back to the folder you created for them. In doing so, you will be prompted to go into the folder you've created and select the images you want to download to the message. Depending on the size of the image and file type, you might not be able to attach more than a handful of images to each e-mail.
