Duct A Microwave Hood

Duct a microwave to run your microve oven optimally.


Proper ventilation is important for proper appliance function in your home. Microwave oven hoods, dryers and oven hoods all need to be properly ventilated to allow heat and moisture to escape. If appliances and their accessories, such as a microwave hood, isn't ventilated properly, you will run the risk of fire hazards or mold. Ducting a microwave hood flange is not complicated and it can be done in less than an hour with prior carpentry experience. When buying your supplies, it is important to make sure that the diameter of the flanges, clamps and the ducting are equal.


Instructions


1. Position the microwave hood flange over the air outlet on the microwave hood so the holes are aligned. Screw the flange to the microwave hood using the screws provided. Position the wall flange over the wall so the hole in the flange and the hole in the wall are centered. Screw it to the wall using the screws provided. Predrill holes that are half the diameter of the screws into the wall if you are attaching the flange to hardwood.


2. Position the microwave hood flange over the air outlet on the microwave hood so the holes are aligned. Screw the flange to the microwave hood using the screws provided. 3. Measure the distance between the wall flange and the microwave hood flange, add 5 inches to the measurement and cut your ducting to that length with your utility knife.


4. Place a duct clamp over each end of the ducting and fit the ends of the ducting over each flange. Tighten the clamps with your screwdriver so they are secured on the flanges.
