Replace Peerless Lever Handle Faucets

If you want to update or replace your Peerless lever handle faucet, there are a few things to know. Though the process really isn't too complicated, it does present a number of challenges. It requires working in a tight space, namely under your sink, and there are specific tools and parts you need to complete the task. Once you master the basics, this project, and any other faucet replacement project, will come a little easier. For now, allow an hour to get this job done right.

Instructions

1. Shut off the water valves under the sink and disconnect the hot and cold water pipe connections from the faucet; these are located under the sink next to the pipe valves. Turn the connectors counterclockwise with a pair of pliers or a wrench, and take them off.

2. Loosen the nut on the connector bracket underneath the sink, directly below the faucet. Slide the nut off the faucet hoses. Lift the faucet up and out of the sink hole. Remove the faucet base plate from the sink base by unscrewing the nuts on the bolts to the faceplate under the sink, and removing the base plate.

3. Install a new base plate by inserting new bolts into the holes in the new base plate and threading them through the two outer sink holes. Connect and tighten two nuts on the bolts underneath the sink.

4. Slide the hoses to the new faucet through the middle hole in the base plate and set the base of the faucet into the hole. Slide the the escutcheon, or mounting bracket, plus the base ring (a round part with a hole for the faucet hose) and nut up and around the faucet hoses. Tighten the nut, securing the base ring to the faucet.

5. Connect the two faucet hoses to the water pipes under the sink by threading the connectors onto the pipes and tightening them either by hand or with large pliers. Turn on the water and operate the faucet. If leaks occur, tighten the connectors.
