Unless you pay for an unlimited text messaging plan on your phone, you have a limited number of text messages every month, and you don't want to use a text message when it isn't necessary. Or maybe you don't have a cell phone, but you would like to send a text message to someone. If you have access to a computer, then you can send a text message to someone's cell phone online.
Instructions
Sending a Text Message to a Cell Phone Online
1. Go to one of the websites provided in the resources section or go to the website of the provider of the cell phone you would like to text message.
2. Type in the phone number of the cell phone that you wish to send the text message to. Be sure to include the area code.
3. Type your short message, being sure to keep it within the character limits set by the particular website you are using. Some websites will send a longer message in more than one text, others will simply cut the message off.
4. Select the service provider if the website you are using asks you to do so. If you don't know the service provider of the cell phone you are trying to text message, SMS Everywhere does not require that you know the service provider; its link is in the resources section.
5. Enter a reply email address if the website you are using offers a space for you to and you would like to be able to receive a reply to your text.
6. Fill out any other necessary fields to send your text message. Some websites may ask for your name or for you to type in a scrambled code to verify that a person, not a machine, is sending the text.
7. Click the send button and wait for the website to finish sending your text before you close out the window.
