DirecTV is one of the nation's leading satellite channel providers. Being so large, the company offers a variety of different packages and upgrades, including HD service and DVR. DVR, or digital video recording, allows you to record content, even if you are not able to be at home. And, because it is a high definition DVR, you can record all of your favorite broadcast material in HD to be viewed later.
Instructions
1. Connect the DirecTV cable running from the satellite into the "In" port on the back of the DirecTV Plus HD DVR.
2. Connect either an HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the rear of the receiver or connect the four component cables into the "Out" port. HDMI is both HD audio and video wrapped into one cable while component cables have three separate cables for the video and one for the audio. Both HD hook ups are capable of receiving full 1080 signals, both progressive and interlace (1080p, 1080i), so you aren't going to receive a downgrade with either set up. HDMI cables are often easier because it is only one cable.
3. Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into an available HDMI port on the HD television. If you are using component cables, plug them into the "In" port on the back of the television.
4. Power on both the television and the DirecTV Plus HD DVR. Press either the "HDMI" button on the TV's remote to switch to the HDMI receiver or press the "Video" button to switch the TV tuner to the component input. You are now set to watch and record HD programming via the DirecTV Plus HD DVR.
