You can send a text message to Canada.
Cellular phones make people's lives easier. You can contact your friends, family and business associates no matter where you or they are, no matter what you're doing. SMS messages, or text messages as they're also known, are particularly convenient if you just need to relay a small bit of information or you know that the person you're trying to contact is in some situation where he can't conduct a full phone conversation. Sending SMS messages to Canada can be a bit trickier because not every plan allows international texts.
Instructions
1. Call your cell phone service provider and ask if you can send SMS messages from your phone to Canada. Some services include messaging to Canada, and if this is the case you can send a text to Canada the same way that you send one to the United States.
2. Ask your phone service provider if it is possible to send SMS messages from your phone to Canada if you pay a fee. Some services will allow you to add international service to your plan, but be warned: this can be very expensive. If the operator asks you if you would like to add international service to your plan to call or text Canada, make sure that you find out exactly how much every SMS message to Canada will cost you.
3. Sign up with a website that allows you to send text messages over the Internet, if you have access to a computer. Some cellular phone services allow you to text from their websites to members of their network for free. If you know what network you friend's on, you may be able to text via the network's site. Other sites allow you to text free, but on some you need to register and on some you must agree to receive marketing texts from the site.
