Card readers make showing and transferring photos easy.
While most image transfers flow from the camera to the computer, there may come a time when the work flow needs to be reversed. Placing images onto a camera's memory card can be done with a simple drag and drop transfer method using a media card reader. Be sure your card has sufficient storage space to hold your images and capture new photographs when inserted into the camera after the transfer.
Instructions
1. Gather the images to transfer into one folder on your computer. This step will make the transfer fast and efficient and keep you from searching for the images when the time comes to transfer.
2. Attach your camera's memory card using a media card reader. The card reader allows your memory card to act as an external hard drive for data transfers and attaches to the computer using a USB connection. Plug the card reader into your computer and insert the card into the reader once attached.
3. Look for the memory card on your computer's hard drive. This step will vary based on your operating system, but the computer will recognize the card as a separate drive. The drive may be automatically labeled by the camera name, depending on your camera type and how it records images to your memory card. You can locate the card using your control panel on a Windows operating system or the Finder window on a Mac. Some operating systems may automatically show the drive on your desktop or in a pop-up window when inserted into the computer.
4. Double-click on your memory card icon to open access to the data on the card.
5. Select your transfer folder on your computer containing the images you wish to transfer to the card. Once highlighted, hold down the mouse and drag the folder into the opened memory card folder.
6. Allow your computer several moments to transfer the images. This will vary based on the size of the card and the number or size of the image files as well.
7. Remove the card and card reader once all the images have transferred. Drag the card to the trash icon if you are on a Mac or select the remove media icon on the task bar in a Windows operating system.
