Recent advances in computer software now allow you to turn your computer into a karaoke machine. Software is available online which you can download and install to turn either a PC or a Mac into a karaoke machine. Some software will even allow you to play karaoke while online with other players from around the world.

Turn Your Mac Computer Into a Karaoke Machine
1. Purchase VCD (video compact disc) software for your Mac. Products such as MacVCD X are available inexpensively online.
2. Opt to download the program directly from the retailer for the quickest access. Once you have paid for the program, you will simply click on the "download" button to transfer the software to your Mac.
3. Choose to receive your software in CD format for the most reliable service. Purchasing an actual CD means that you will have a backup to reload should anything ever happen to either your computer or the program.
4. Install the VCD software on your Mac. Simply double click on the installer icon to begin the process. The installer icon will appear on your desktop once you have either downloaded the program or placed the CD in the CD drive.
5. Double click on the VCD icon that appears on your desktop once installation is complete. This will launch the karaoke program.
6. Place any VCD karaoke CD into your CD drive. The VCD program will recognize the CD and run it.
7. Play karaoke VCD songs that are stored on your Mac's hard drive by clicking on the "Menu" button. Then choose "File" and "Open" from the pull-down menu to select a song to run.

8. Visit one of the many online karaoke service providers to obtain the necessary software.
9. Choose karaoke software that supports as many music formats as possible. Karaoke player and editing software that supports CD+G files will allow you to play your regular karaoke CDs on your computer as well as downloaded MP3 and MIDI files.
10. Download the karaoke software and install it onto your computer by following the installation prompts.
11. Create your own karaoke songs. Drag and drop regular song files into your karaoke program. You can then use the editor function to remove the vocal tracks and insert printed lyrics.
