Insert CDs with the label facing upwards.
Panasonic's mini SC-AK15 shelf stereo system combines a FM and AM tuner, cassette deck and CD player in a small form-factor. Problems with the shelf stereo system can be common to all the components, like power and sound issues; or specific to one element, like poor quality sound when listening to tapes, for example. Problems with the Panasonic SC-AK15 stereo can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps.
Instructions
1. Turn the volume higher if there isn't enough sound when the power is on. Take a look at the speaker cords and make sure that the polarity isn't reversed if, when listening, the location of the various musical instruments isn't defined well. The red lead should go to the positive terminal on both the control unit and each speaker. The black lead should go to the negative. Match colors and plus and minus icons for best audio results.
2. Switch off any television sets, or move the Panasonic SC-AK15 away from the television if you hear beat-type sounds when listening to AM radio broadcasts because of this audible interference. Same with low frequency hums on AM. Separate the antenna wire from the power cord to reduce interference. The Panasonic SC-AK15 can also interfere with the television picture by causing lines or stripes on the TV, in which you should separate the equipment.
3. Insert a commercially available tape head cleaning cassette if sound is low or unsteady. Tape heads wear and accumulate dirt. The tape head cleaner will correct this. You may want to consider progressing to solid state technology like MP3 if the problem continues since it's less prone to mechanical failure.
4. Insert CDs with the label facing upwards and the recorded side (shiny side) downwards if CD's won't play. Look for visible scratches and discard the CD if you experience skipping and can see scratches.
