The LCD screen on a flat-panel TV is much more sensitive to damage than the old style tube-type TV and can be easily scratched if struck a glancing blow from a sharp object like a remote control or a misplaced elbow. Repairing a scratch on the LCD screen requires filling it in so that, for all practical purposes, it is no longer there. A few household items are needed but no special tools. The TV does not need to be disassembled, and the warranty is not affected.
Instructions
1. Blow off the LCD TV's screen with compressed air. Gently wipe off the screen with a clean side of a lint-free cloth, starting at the upper left corner and moving across to the right side, then returning to the left side and repeating the process until reaching the lower right corner.
2. Apply a dab of petroleum jelly to the tip of the cotton swab. Press the cotton swab against the LCD screen a half inch to the left of the scratch.
3. Move the cotton swab gently across the length of the scratch, stopping a half inch past the scratch. Dispose of the cotton swab.
4. Place a clean edge of the lint free cloth against the LCD screen a half inch to the left of the scratch. Move the lint free cloth gently across the length of the scratch, stopping a half inch past the scratch. Dispose of the lint free cloth.
5. Blow off the LCD TV's screen again with compressed air.
