Install A Usb Audio Adapter

USB audio adapters are easy to install and allow you to perform many more audio functions than the "stock" speakers that come in your computer. Music buffs are frequent audio adapter users. Although computers today should install the USB amplifier for you as soon as you insert the device into a clean USB drive on your computer, there are some options that could be available to you that you would need to choose from before the adapter will work properly.

Instructions

1. Buy the right adapter for your needs. USB audio adapters are common and can be found in stores from low-income wholesalers to massive electronic suppliers. Go to your local electronics store and look at your options. It is important to choose a USB adapter that fits your needs. If you do not need advanced options, do not buy an audio adapter with advanced options. The most common mistake with electronic purchases is buying more than you need. Just because you can buy it does not mean you should.

2. Plug the adapter into the USB port. Computer operating systems have built-in software that will automatically detect and install programs. After you insert the adapter you just bought, your computer will search for the device and install the hardware. If you have a security program on the computer, it will more than likely prompt you to give the OK before it automatically installs the program. Depending on the age of your operating system or custom settings on your computer, the installation process should be finished in minutes.

If the installation does not begin automatically, go to the "My Computer" file if you have Windows, or find the icon for the device on a Mac screen and double-click the icon. This will bring up the information for the device and the option to install the device. It takes a minute or two longer to do it manually, so keep that in mind.

3. Plug in speakers. Now that the USB audio adapter is installed and in place, plug your speakers and/or other equipment in to the adapter. If they are compatible with the adapter they will automatically configure themselves to the adapter. Compatibility requirements will be listed on the back of the speaker box. The adapter has little circular holes with a small icon of either headphones or a speaker on it. The silver end of the speaker add-ons will slide easily into this hole. Push the plug all the way in, so it becomes a conductor for the energy. Then test to see if the speakers are working. You should be able to turn them on. If a light comes on in the speakers, they are working. If the light does not come on, then you should pull the plug out of the adapter and repeat the step.

4. Play your music. Your speakers and audio adapter is completely installed.
