Instructions
1. Install software for processing digital photos onto your computer. Most digital cameras are packaged with software to process digital photos. The software enables you to manipulate the photos, such as reducing the photo size or rotating the photos.
2. Locate a USB port on your computer. The USB port is rectangular in shape and about half an inch long. Most computers have more than one USB port. Computers generally have USB ports located on the back where other cables are connected, but some computers have USB ports located on the front of the computer as well.
3. Connect the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer. The part that plugs into the USB port is about half an inch long and flat. The top has a symbol the looks like an arrow with a branch coming out of each side.
4. Connect the small end of the USB cable to your digital camera. Look for a small port on your digital camera that fits the small end of the USB cable. Your camera might have a plastic flap that covers the port.
5. Turn on your digital camera and follow the instructions provided. Some digital cameras will automatically transfer the digital photos from your digital camera to your computer. Others require an added step, such as selecting a "PC" option on your digital camera.
6. Open the digital photos on your computer. Your computer should show that the digital photos are being transferred to your computer. After the transfer is complete, you can open the digital photos in the software you installed.
