Many households have multiple TV's. Sometimes it can be hard to hear "your" TV due to the loud volume on the kids' portable TV. Buy headphones for your kids to wear and you no longer will hear their TV set.
Instructions
1. Purchase a portable TV that comes with a headphone jack to connect headphones. Not all models have a connection, so be sure not to miss this important step. Ask the representative or inspect the box to make sure the jack is there.
2. Bring your kids with you when you shop. They will be the ones wearing the headphones so you should try to find a set that are comfortable. Preference is a big determining factor here; some people prefer ear-buds to big headphones while others can't stand the feeling of an internal ear piece.
3. Buy a set of headphones that are compatible with the portable TV you purchased. Most headphones have a universal jack but you want to be sure you don't end up with the exception. It's best to coordinate these two purchases to make sure your headphones will connect to your TV. You will also want to find a set with a long chord. A short chord means the watcher has to sit directly in front of the television and that can be bad for the eyes.
4. Plug the headphones into the TV, in the socket that reads "headphones" or shows a picture of headphones.
5. Turn on the TV set and you will notice you can't hear it. That is a good sign.
6. Put the headphones on your head and over your ears. You should now hear the TV volume. Adjust the volume to a comfortable level. If you don't hear anything, make sure the headphones connect to the portable TV tightly. Listen again for the TV sound.
