The Canon Digital Rebel XTi is a compact digital single lens camera designed to be an entry level model for photographers moving up from the compact point and shoot models, or photographers buying their first DSLR. The camera, like previous Rebel models, features easy to use controls and menu selections and provides photographers with a wide array of shooting menus and options. The Canon Digital Rebel XTi will accept all of Canon's EF and EF-S lenses and their EX line of external flash units known as Speedlites.
Instructions
1. Install a freshly charged battery and empty memory card into the camera and turn the camera on by sliding the "On/Off" switch on the top right of the camera to on. Rotate the "Exposure" mode dial located on the same side as the "On/Off" switch to "Av." This is the setting for "Aperture Priority." In this mode you select the aperture by turning the small wheel by the shutter release, and the camera will select the best shutter speed.
2. Press the "WB" button on the back of the camera. This button has two functions. One is to set the "White Balance," and the other is to choose the "Picture Style." You can choose from nine picture styles. Six are preset, and three you can program yourself, for specific shooting situations you may encounter. For example, if you photograph your son or daughter competing in a sport, you may choose to save the camera settings to one of these "User Defined Modes" so you simply select that mode every time you photograph them competing. Camera functions such as white balance, ISO, shooting mode, shutter speed, aperture and motor drive---single or continuous, can all be programmed and saved.
3. Hold the camera to your eye to compose and take the picture.
4. Press the "Menu" button and toggle to "Direct Print." From this menu you can fix red eyes, brighten your subject's face and make other adjustments and print directly to a Canon printer.
5. Connect your Canon Rebel XTi to your Canon printer using a USB cable.
6. Press the small button with the blue dot in the center of it, located just to the left of the viewfinder, to print your selected image directly to the printer.
