Red eyes are caused by a camera's flash.
Red eye is a common problem in digital photos. Red eye is caused by the camera's flash reflecting from a person's retinas, making the eyes appear red instead of their normal color. As it is a common problem, many photo and image editing applications contain tools for automatically detecting and fixing red eye. While Windows 7 does not include the Windows Photo Gallery application shipped with Windows Vista, Microsoft provides a newer version for download; alternately, you can download a third-party photo editor.
Instructions
1. Install Windows Live Photo Gallery that is included with Microsoft's Windows Live Essentials (see Resources.) Open it by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Windows Live" and "Windows Live Photo Gallery." Double-click a photo from your Pictures directory in the Windows Live Photo Gallery window, click "Fix" on the toolbar, click "Fix Red Eye" and click and drag the mouse pointer around each red eye in the image.
2. Download Google's Picasa photo editor (see Resources.) Open it by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Picasa" and "Picasa." Open a photo by clicking "File," "Open," browsing to the photo and double-clicking it.
