Fix A Clamp On An Amp Meter

Nowadays, amp meters are combined with volt meters into one unit called a multimeter. Multimeters have test leads that attach to the front of the meters. Typically, the test leads are small, straight prongs. However, some multimeters or amp meters have special test leads with clamps on the end. These clamps are used to hook the meter leads to a component, like a resistor, so the operator can use his hands doing something else. The test lead clamps are held together by a small spring and a screw. Sometimes these clamps can come apart. However, they can be repaired quickly.

Instructions

1. Hold the two ends of the meter clamp together and line up the overlapping screw holes.

2. Insert the small screw into the screw holes in the center of the clamp and screw it in with a screwdriver.

3. Insert the small spring into the clamp between the two ends. Clip one end of the spring to one side of the clamp and the other end of the spring to the other side.
