Determine If A Home Theater Subwoofer Is Necessary

In modern home theaters, subwoofers are the best way to give you and your family that true movie theater experience at home. But in some cases the boomy low end of a subwoofer may not be necessary. This article will help you determine if your home theater really needs a subwoofer for bass.

Instructions

1. Scrutinize the room you will use for your home theater. If it is small you can get by with the bass projected from the left and right speakers. In a larger space a sub-woofer is more necessary to feel the bass of sound effects and music.

2. Decide if you really need a subwoofer. If you listen to music with a lot of bass or watch a lot of movies, you would benefit from owning one. But if you are the type of person who only casually watches television, you are probably just fine without a subwoofer.

3. Think about how a subwoofer will work with the rest of the speakers in your set up. If the rest of your speakers are large a subwoofer may not necessary, or its effects will be little noticed. However, if your speakers are small and have that tinny sound, a subwoofer is perfect for fattening up your home theater's sound.

4. Think about compatibility. A subwoofer won't do you much good if your house is full of large speakers. If you have only smaller speakers a subwoofer will be a perfect addition to your home theater system.

5. Go online or talk to a local electronic store sales representative for more specific information on which subwoofer would work best for your home theater if you decide to buy.
