Photo Booth
is bundled with the Mac operating system.
Photo Booth is a photo program that comes with the Mac operating system. It uses the small camera that comes with the Mac computer, and with it you can snap a photo of yourself and friends and save it to iPhoto, the Mac photo program. Once the photo is taken, you can add effects as well. You can also use it to shoot videos.
Instructions
1. Open Photo Booth by clicking on the Photo Booth icon in the dock. The icon has a red photo booth curtain. If you don't see it in the dock, click on an empty space on your desktop to activate the Finder, then click on "Go" at the top of the screen followed by "Applications." From there, cursor down the list until you get to "Photo Booth.app" and click on that.
2. Seat yourself in front of the computer to take a photo of yourself. Pick a type of picture to take by selecting an icon below the photo screen in Photo Booth. The single rectangle will take a single photo, the four rectangle icon will take a burst of four photos and the film strip will take a video clip.
3. Click on the red camera icon to start the countdown and take the picture. Once the picture has been taken, it will appear on the Photo Booth screen, and there will be an icon of the photo in the area at the bottom of the window. If the light is low, Photo Booth will activate a kind of flash by making the display screen turn white when the picture is taken.
4. Use the effects button to alter your photo with colors or lens effects. If you click on the button on the right side of the window before you take the picture, you can see the effect prior to taking the photo; the effect you choose is automatically applied. To add an effect to a photo you have already taken, click on "View" at the top of the screen, and then "Show Effects." Click on the one you want to apply it to.
5. Add your photo directly to your iPhoto library by clicking the "iPhoto" icon. You can also email your photo by clicking the "Email" icon. This will open Mail and insert the photo in a new email that you can compose and send.
