Use An Rf Converter On A Tv

An RF Converter is a device used to connect older televisions to peripherals such as DVD players and video game consoles, which require a three-prong (red, yellow and white) video/audio input interface. RF Converters are not appropriate for all older televisions. You need an older "cable ready" television that has a single antenna/cable port on the back.

Instructions

1. Determine that your television is compatible with an RF converter. It should have a single antenna/cable input port. If it has red, yellow and white, video/audio inputs, then you do not need an RF converter.

2. Purchase an RF converter from your local electronics shop or discount store. Make sure it comes with at least on set of video/audio cables. Otherwise you will need to buy them separately.

3. Remove the RF Converter from the package, and look at the cables. The converter will have a power cord and single antenna cable on one side. On the other side it will have a three-color (red, yellow and white) audio/video ports.

4. Plug the single TV cable into the antenna port on the back of your television.

5. Use a red, yellow and white, audio/video cable to connect your peripheral device to the RF Converter.

6. Plug in the RF Converter's power cord. Your devices should not be ready for use. Use the "Input" button on your remote control to switch back and forth between TV and your peripheral device.
