Fix Display Problems For A Nextel 580

The Nextel i580 is a thick cellular flip phone with a clam shell design. Even though this phone comes with a thick shell that protects its internal components, it's still possible for the phone to experience problems. One such problem that can arise is a bad connection between the screen and motherboard. If you want to fix this problem on your own, you will need to partially disassemble the unit.

Instructions

1. Turn off your i580 and turn the unit over. Remove the battery door from the rear of the unit and lift the battery out of the compartment.

2. Remove all screws from the sides and corners of the rear of the unit and remove the plastic antenna from the top corner of the unit.

3. Remove the back panel from the phone housing to expose the motherboard. Notice the thick, orange screen ribbon cable connected to a port on the top of the motherboard.

4. Check the screen cable to ensure that it is securely plugged into its port. If it isn't, unplug it and plug it back in, making sure it is secure.

5. Reverse the steps for reassembly of the phone.
