Troubleshoot A C65

The C65 is a car radar and laser safety scanner manufactured by Escort. The device allows drivers to detect whether or not their speed is being monitored by a radar gun, which allows them to slow down before getting into an accident or getting ticketed. One of the device's notable characteristics is its large LED screen that displays warnings and the device's settings. If you experience errors or difficulty while trying to use the C65, troubleshoot the device to diagnose and solve the problem.

Instructions

C65 Is Not Sensitive to Radar or Laser

1. Look at the device's position to see if it is located behind the vehicle's windshield wipers; this can cause the device's antenna to have trouble picking up signals. Move the device to another location on the windshield, if necessary.

2. Look at the device's position to see if it's located behind tinted areas of your vehicle's windshield as this can interrupt the laser signal. If it is, move the device to an area of the window that is not tinted.

3. Check that the device's scanning mode is set appropriately by pressing the "City" button on the top of the device . If the screen reads "City" or "Highway," keep pressing the button until it reads "AutoScan." This mode allows for the greatest radar sensitivity.

C65 Audio Alerts Cannot Be Heard

4. Disable "AutoMute" mode on the device if it is on. Check this by pressing and holding the "City" and "BRT" buttons at the same time for 2 seconds. This will enter the device into "Programming Mode."

5. Press the "RVW" button while in "Programming Mode" to scroll through and review the device's current settings. When you get to the "AutoMute" category, check to see if it is on or off.

6. Press the "CHG" button if the setting reads "aMute ON." This will turn it off.

7. Wait 8 seconds, without pressing any buttons, for the device to automatically leave "Programming Mode" and return to its normal state.
