Make A Jvc Pc Camera Work With Vista

Connect a JVC PC camcorder to a Vista computer with a USB cable.

JVC digital PC camcorders are compatible with most newer Microsoft operating systems, including Windows Vista. The camcorder connects to a Vista PC or laptop with a USB cable for transferring digital video files to the computer. JVC also supplies interactive software on CD-ROM with its digital camcorders. Install the software on your computer to create a simple interface between the components so that videos can be transferred quickly, edited if desired, then uploaded to a website, burned to DVD or stored on the computer.

Instructions

1. Install the JVC software on the Vista computer by opening the CD drive tray, placing the software CD-ROM in the tray and closing it. When the disc starts, click the on-screen buttons when prompted to advance to the next stage of the installation. Restart the computer when the installation is complete.

2. Open the protective port cover on the side of the JVC camcorder with a thumbnail to reveal the USB port. Connect the USB cable from this port to any unused port on the Vista PC.

3. Open the JVC software by clicking "MediaBrowser" from the list of programs on the computer, or by clicking the camcorder icon on the computer desktop. To locate the software list, click the Microsoft Flag button in the lower, left corner, choose "All Programs" and double-click "MediaBrowser."

4. Turn on the camcorder and wait a moment for the stored videos on the JVC to display as thumbnail images on the computer screen. Each thumbnail will appear in a calendar display on the date it was shot.

5. Double-click on any thumbnail image to view and hear the corresponding video. Click any of the standard controls at the bottom of the screen to play, stop, rewind or advance the video. The buttons function the same as found on TV, VCR and DVD remote controls.

6. Click any of the buttons at the bottom of the screen to upload the video automatically to the computer, to a website such as iTunes or YouTube (if the PC has an Internet connection) or to burn to a DVD, if the computer is equipped with a disc burner.
