Install Windows Mobile 5

Windows Mobile is an operating system that allows you to use mobile computer applications. If you have an outdated version of Windows Mobile on your Pocket PC or smartphone, you probably want to find out install Windows Mobile 5. As long as you are eligible for an upgrade, you can easily access the Windows Mobile 5 download.


Instructions


1. Visit the product page of your Pocket PC or smartphone manufacturer. The Windows Mobile download is not available directly from Microsoft. Cell phone providers and manufacturers receive the updates from Microsoft and are in charge of distributing them.








2. Download Windows Mobile 5 onto your computer. You must have Windows 2000 or later in order to install the update. You also must have either ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center installed on your computer. You can find these programs available for download on the Microsoft website.


3. Agree to the terms presented by your cell phone provider in order to access the required Windows Mobile files. Once you agree, the download will start and you can follow the progress by watching the status bars.


4. Connect the phone and PC with the USB sync cable when prompted by ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device. The prompts will walk you through the process of uploading the new Mobile OS update onto your phone. After installation is completed, it may take a few minutes, you can disconnect the sync cable and close ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device.








5. Reset your phone. You may be required to reset your phone once you install the Windows Mobile operating system on it. Read any warnings that appear on the phone that involves the resetting of your personalized settings.
