Print With Photo Paper

Print with photo paper and your photo printer.

Owning a color printer suitable for printing photographs gives you a vast array of options. As you assemble photographs to print, you must print with photo paper to ensure your images have the same high-quality appearance as if they were printed professionally. Select a photo paper with the finish you desire and print photographs at home from your computer.

Instructions

1. Select the photo paper. Some photo paper has a matte finish and other photo paper has a glossy finish. Also select the size of photo paper you desire. Common sizes include 3-inch by 5-inch, 4-inch by 6-inch, 5-inch by 7-inch and 8-inch by 10-inch. Larger sizes may be available also, but many home photo printers will not accommodate paper sizes larger than 8 by 10.

2. Load the photo paper into the printer. If you are using 8 by 10 paper, load the sheets into the regular paper tray. If you are using smaller sheets, load them into a special tray designed to hold smaller sheets of photo paper. Most photo trays adjust for different sizes of paper.

3. Open the digital photograph on your computer by finding the photo and double-clicking it in your default photo-viewing program. If the photo needs resizing before printing, open the photograph in an image-editing program and re-size it to match your photo paper.

4. Print the photograph directly from the photo-viewing program or from the image-editing program by clicking "File" then "Print."

5. Remove the photo from the photo printer and set it aside for 24 hours before framing it or using it.
