Use A Motorola TalkT5500

Motorola Talkabout T5500 two-way radios allow you to communicate with other radio users in a limited area. The radios are often used by businesses so that employees can stay in contact while on the job. Using two-way radios is often easier than using cellphones because you don't have to dial a number to contact the other radio. You need to know install the batteries, turn on the radios, change the channel and talk on the radio.

Instructions

Battery Installation

1. Lift up on the battery cover latch on the back of the Motorola Talkabout T5500 and remove the cover.

2. Install three AA batteries in the compartment so that the positive ends of the left and right batteries face the top of the radio and the positive end of the middle battery faces the bottom of the radio. If you are using a NiCd battery pack, slide the pack into the compartment with the contacts facing out so they touch the contacts on the inside of the battery cover.

3. Place the battery cover over the Motorola T5500 battery compartment and press down until you hear a click.

Radio Operation

4. Twist the Power/Volume knob on the top-left corner of the radio to the right to turn on the T5500. Turning the knob to the right raises the volume and to the left lowers the volume.

5. Press the "Menu" button under the screen to display the current channel.

6. Push the "+" or "-" button to switch to a different channel, and then press the "PTT" button on the right side of the radio to save the channel. You need to program your radio to the same channel as the other radio to which you want to communicate.

7. Hold the radio two to three inches from your mouth, press the "PTT" button and speak into the front of the radio when communicating with another radio.

8. Release the "PTT" button to listen to communication from other radios.
