Clean Inside A Vivitar Lens

A soft, clean brush is ideal for cleaning camera lenses.

Vivitar camera lenses are delicate and therefore require special care when it comes time to clean them. The inside of a Vivitar lens contains more dust and grime than the eye can see. Therefore, it is important to clean the lens regularly to avoid scratches and minor damage, and to always remember to keep the lens covered when not in use. With the right equipment, the Vivitar lens can be gently cleaned and look like new again.

Instructions

1. Remove the lens from the camera by pressing the lens release button and carefully twisting the lens. Cover the camera with the cap as you normally would if the lens was attached.

2. Blow away any excess dust with compressed air, then use a lens-cleaning brush to clean the inside and outside of the lens carefully. This kind of brush, which can be bought at any store that sells photography equipment, is recommended since it is designed especially for lenses. You can substitute a clean, soft makeup brush for it if you prefer.

3. Clean the inside of the Vivitar lens with a lens-cleaning cloth (or a cloth for cleaning eyeglasses) by gently rubbing the cloth against the glass to remove any smudges or dust. Repeat this for the outside of the lens.

4. Check to see if any smudges remain. If there are still smudges, repeat the above steps. If not, unscrew the cap from the camera and put the Vivitar lens back in its place.

5. Check to make sure the lens is securely in place (you should have heard a slight click). Replace the cap.
