Transfer Data to a PC From a Sony Handycam DCR-HC35E

Because the Sony Handycam DCR-HC35E video camera is a MiniDV camera, you can hook it up to a PC to transfer video to a file on the computer. From the computer, you can store the movie file, upload it to social networking websites such as YouTube, Myspace or Facebook, or burn it to DVD to share with family and friends just like a regular DVD movie.

Instructions

1. Turn on your camera. Plug one end of the USB cable to the USB port on the Sony Handycam and the other end into the PC. Set the camera to "Play" mode using the dial on the back of the camera.

2. Click "Start" on your computer, and type "Windows Movie Maker" in the box that appears. Press "Enter."

3. Click the "Movie Maker" icon, and then click "Import from device."

4. Click the Sony camera icon in the list that appears.

5. Enter a name for your video, and then use the dialog that appears to select a location on the computer for the file; then click "Import."

6. Click "Import the entire video" to capture the entire tape onto a movie. If you want to end the movie capture before the tape runs out, click "Stop." Click "Finish" to save your movie.
