Use An Equalizer For Home Audio

Equalizers manipulate the audio frequencies to create a different overall sound.

Equalizers manipulate the frequencies in audio production. By limiting the levels that certain frequencies are allowed to operate, it greatly alters the sound. While equalization is normally used on the recording and audio production end to finalize a track's sound, occasionally certain speakers work better when the audio is calibrated specifically for their construction. The easiest way to set up an equalizer is to connect it to a receiver with a tape loop function.

Instructions

1. Connect the CD player (or other external audio playing device) to the receiver as you would normally--RCA cables from the player's output jacks to the receiver's input jacks.

2. Connect the RCA cables from the receiver's tape loop out jacks into the equalizer's audio input jacks.

3. Connect RCA cables from the equalizer's output jacks into the receiver's tape loop in jacks.

4. Press the "Tape Loop" button on the receiver (often in the front of the device). Being playing the audio through the audio device.

5. Adjust the levels on the equalizer. Listen to the changes in the audio on the speakers. There is no perfect setup for all speakers; keep adjusting until it meets your specifications.
