Erase Cassette Tapes On A Lanier Transcriber

Lanier makes one of the most popular transcribing machines around. Reliable and efficiently designed, they are easy to use and virtually maintenance free. One of the most popular features is how you erase a cassette on a Lanier transcriber. Unlike other brands that require you to reset the machine and tape, losing valuable time, Lanier designed their machine to erase automatically but, with you completely in control of what is or is not erased.

Instructions

1. Verify that you are through transcribing the cassette in your Lanier transcriber. Once you erase the tape, you will not be able to recover the information on it. If you are sure that you have completed your transcription and there is no legal reason that you need to save the recording, go to the next step.

2. Fast forward the tape to the end of the recording or section of recording that you want to erase.

3. Press and hold down the "Erase" button on the face of the transcriber. The "Erase" button is on the right side of the front face, next to the digital placement counter.

4. Press the "Rewind" button or hold down the "Rewind" foot pedal. Lanier transcribers are designed to automatically erase upon rewind when the "Erase" button is engaged.
