TomTom offers GPS devices for vehicles and devices such as cars, motorcycles and mobile phones. Regardless of which type you own, it is advisable to occasionally update your GPS device. Map updates for a TomTom GPS add features like new neighborhoods, streets, highways and points of interest. The updates may also be able to notify you of roads closed due to construction or traffic congestion. Map updates can be purchased from the TomTom website and installed in a few steps.
Instructions
1. Go to the TomTom website and click on the "Maps" tab at the top of the screen.
2. Click "Buy a Map" under the "Single Map Downloads" tab. On the following page, click "Buy Now" under "Single Map Update."
3. Choose your product from the drop-down menu. Select the continent you would like to buy a map for, then choose the country from the drop-down menu. Click "Buy Now," then "Continue."
4. Sign in to your TomTom account, or create one if necessary. Enter your shipping and billing information to complete the checkout process. The update is then provided in download form.
5. Download the file, then open it. Follow the instructions to apply the map to your device.
