Replace The Usb Port In An Htc Tytn Ii

If you have a faulty USB port in your TyTN II cell phone, it may be worth your time to try and replace it rather than toss out the whole phone. This process will require some knowledge of electronics as well as soldering. However, the disassembly process can be completed in a limited amount of time.

Instructions

1. Turn off your TyTN II and turn the unit over. Slide the battery door off the rear of the unit and remove the battery.

2. Remove all screws from the back corners of the unit and set them aside.

3. Insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam where the back panel meets the body of the unit and work your way around until the back panel pops off. The motherboard will now be exposed in the housing.

4. Unplug the orange ribbon cables from their ports on the top of the motherboard.

5. Remove all screws from the sides of the motherboard and remove the motherboard from the housing.

6. Locate the USB port on the side of the motherboard and desolder its connectors from the top of the motherboard.

7. Fit a new USB port in the old one's place and solder the connectors to the board. Let the solder dry and then reverse the steps for reassembly.
