Wedding Camera Ideas

Professional photographers can cost thousands for a wedding, while a case of 24 disposable cameras costs only a few hundred.

Hiring a wedding photographer is not a must for a wedding reception, but many brides and grooms hire them to capture most memorable moments. Because the photographer can be in only one place at a time, giving guests cameras will help you capture more candid shots of the wedding. Whether the budget is tight or comfortable, there are several ways to get extra photographs from your reception.

Cameras as Wedding Favors

One creative yet pricey way to include the guests in the photography is to buy them cameras as wedding favors. Leave the cameras near their plates at the reception with instructions on use them. Also ask that they leave any digital cards or film they use in baskets at the end of the reception so you can download the photos or have them developed.

Disposable Cameras

Set disposable cameras on the tables at the reception for guests to take photos for you. Usually these can also be ordered in bulk. Have a few cameras per table. Let guests know that the cameras are there for them to take photos by attaching a note to the camera and having the disc jockey announce it at the reception. Encourage your guests to capture the right moments by leaving a lists of shots you hope they catch at the wedding. This way they will know what to look for. Instruct your guests to leave the cameras on the tables or have special baskets where they can leave them before leaving the reception venue.

Photo Booth

Photo booths are another fun way to have cameras at a wedding. There will definitely be memorable moments and interesting shots taken with photo booths. They can even work into some wedding themes such as movie or fairy-tale themes. The photo booths can offer backgrounds that can correspond to the themes such as the Hollywood sign or Cinderella's castle. However, they can be a bit pricey and can cost a few thousand dollars per event.

Disposable Video Cameras

Disposable video cameras are also an option for couples who want to capture video clips during the wedding. Have one disposable video camera per table with instructions to pass the camera around. One camera can capture up to 20 minutes' worth of footage.
