Set Up A Tv Converter

In 2009 all television stations switched to digital signals to free up analog air waves for cell phone use (among others). If you have an analog television and do not use a cable/satellite receiver to obtain your service and opt to use an antenna, you need a converter to receive the digital programming. Without the digital-to-analog television converter your TV is just going to take up space and collect dust.

Instructions

1. Look at the back of your television to check if your TV has an RCA connection. RCA provides better audio and video quality than coaxial cables. An RCA connection has three different ports: one red, one yellow and another white. The red and white cables are for the audio while the yellow cable provides the video signal. If you have these RCA cable ports, opt for this connection.

2. Plug the TV converter into a power outlet, but do not power it on yet.

3. Connect the antenna into the "In" port on the back of the TV converter.

4. Plug the coaxial cable into the "Out" port on the TV converter if you do not have an RCA connection on the TV. If you do, plug the three RCA cables into the "Video Out" ports.

5. Connect the other end of the coaxial cable into the "In" port on the TV, or if you are using RCA cables plug these into the "Video In" ports on the TV.
