Buying a karaoke machine can be a simple process if you know your price range and how you want to set up your karaoke player. Consider if you want to hook the karaoke player up to a speaker system, whether you want it to utilize DVDs or MP3s and the size of the player.
Instructions
1. Determine your budget and what you want your karaoke player for. Do you want the karaoke player for small or big events, for just your family or for professional use? There are four types of players to consider. A portable player is the smallest and cheapest type of player. A component player looks like a DVD player and is designed to be connected to a home entertainment system. Players with hard drives get more expensive as they allow you to store music and video onto them. Lastly, there are the top-of-the-line professional players.
2. Decide on a karaoke player that has a built-in screen or one that utilizes a DVD player. Get a portable player that includes a screen, such as the Emerson DT560 (see Resources). Get a machine that has at least two microphones. The best players come with two, and two are likely to be enough microphones, unless you're planning on hosting a major event with a professional player.
3. Go to a retailer that carries karaoke players. Ask questions or concerns about the quality and setup of the players. Test the players you are interested in.
