When you're using a hand-held Garmin eTrex personal GPS device to help you navigate while hiking, you can keep track of the places you go by adding waypoints. A waypoint is a saved location along the trail you're walking, which is useful for finding places of interest that you want to revisit or writing notes about a particular area. You can add a waypoint while you're walking with the Garmin eTrex, or call up recent places on a map to add waypoints after you've visited them.
