The Canon Powershot A570 IS is a 7.1 megapixel camera released in 2007. The A570 IS includes a variety of options that allow for high quality photographs. There are a variety of shooting modes that adjust the camera to different lighting conditions, and an image stabilizer that reduces blur, even when zoomed in and the subject is moving.
Batteries and Memory Card
The A570 requires two AA batteries to operate. The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the camera and is opened by holding the locking switch and pulling outward. Be sure to place two fully charged or new batteries in the camera on first use and when the battery meter runs low.
Under the battery cover and next to the batteries is a slot for the memory card. The memory card is needed to store the pictures you take, and the amount of pictures you can store is based on the size of the card. To install the memory card, face the front of the card toward the front of the camera and push into the slot until it clicks. To remove the card, press down on the card until you hear a click and it will pop out.
Shooting Modes
The different shooting modes change the camera's settings, allowing the user to take clear pictures in any conditions. The shooting modes are Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Night Scene, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Underwater, Stitch Assist and Movie. The names of the shooting modes are self-explanatory, though more information for each is available in the user manual. You can also find the symbols used for each shooting mode in the manual.
To adjust the shooting mode, turn the dial on the top of the camera until you have selected the mode you would like to use. Depending on the mode, you may have to make additional selections on the view screen using the arrow buttons and confirming with the "FUNC./SET" button.
Shooting
When you want to take a picture, turn on the camera and select the shooting mode appropriate to the conditions. Point the camera at the subject of the picture and press the shutter button halfway. The camera will automatically focus on the subject. When the picture is ready to be taken, the camera will beep twice, the auto-focus frame will appear on the view screen and the indicator light will turn green. If you are using the flash, the light will turn orange. To take the picture, press the shutter button the rest of the way down.
Review and Edit
On the back of the camera and to the right of the view screen is a switch to change between "Camera" and "Play" mode. Press the switch down to enter "Play" mode and review the pictures you have taken. You can look through all of the images by pressing the left and right arrow buttons.
If you want to delete an image, press the button with the trash can symbol. You will need to confirm the deletion by pressing the "FUNC./SET" button.
