Installing Sirius in a Grand Cherokee is simple.
Sirius satellite radio uses satellites to broadcast signals from space to an antenna. This means that if you purchase and subscribe to Sirius' service for your car, you must also install an antenna to receive the signal. For drivers of Grand Cherokees, the installation is simple. Sirius offers a variety of antennas and receivers, and all of them are installed in a similar manner.
Instructions
1. Disable the car's battery by removing the plug from the negative end. Remove the car's rear trim panel by unscrewing it and prying it off.
2. Tape a piece of cardboard on the inside of the roof near the back of the car. This is the area where you will drill through the roof of the car in order to place the Sirius antenna. You will use the cardboard to collect the shards of metal that you drill through.
3. Drill a single 3/4-inch hole through the roof of the car. Make sure the hole is drilled in the center of the roof and near the back. This is where you will run the antenna through. Remove the piece of cardboard that has collected the drilling remnants and throw it in the garbage.
4. Attach the antenna mounting plate onto the back of the Grand Cherokee roof. You will find directions for mount it in the instruction manual. Place the antenna onto the mountain plate and screw it in.
5. Run the antenna's wiring into the car and through the sides of the car. Keep the wiring out of sight to prevent it from accidentally getting pulled or separated from the antenna.
6. Run the wiring to the front of the car, hiding it beneath the side of the car. You can use a screwdriver to pry up the rubber near the doors. Run the wire to the front receiver. Depending on if you have a CD changer, the specifics of how your front receiver is wired will vary. Follow the directions in the instruction manual.
7. Reconnect the car's battery after the wiring is complete. Turn on the car and turn to the option for Sirius. Choose the channel you wish to listen to.
