Setting up a DirecTV box in your home is a simple process that should not take longer than a few minutes to complete successfully. DirecTV offers satellite television service to paying customers with a high quality picture and a myriad of regular and premium channel options. The company offers the most channels available in the current satellite TV market. While setting up your DirecTV box may sound difficult, it is actually quite simple with the proper instructions.
Instructions
1. Remove the satellite box and all of the components from the original box and place them in your television entertainment center or near your television.
2. Take the component cables (the red, white and yellow audio/visual cables) that came with the box and connect them to the corresponding input ports on the back of the television (matching the color coding of the plugs to the TV's jacks). Connect the other end to the corresponding ports on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
3. Connect an ethernet wire that runs from your Internet source (i.e. modem or wall jack) to the back of the DirecTV box if you wish to have an Internet connection available. Connect the power cord that is connected to the back of the receiver to a wall outlet near the television.
4. Place the provided batteries into the back of the remote control and turn on your DirecTV box for the first time. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the language for the box, the time/date and allow the box to run a diagnostic test to set the channels that you have ordered. Once the diagnostic test is complete, you will be able to watch television using your DirecTV box.
