View Sd Cards On A Computer

View SD Cards on a Computer

SD cards allow you to transfer files from mobile devices such as digital cameras to your computer. SD cards are available in various sizes; as of 2009, the maximum size is 2 GB on a standard SD card and up to 32 GB on high-capacity SD cards. This ample amount of space allows you to save thousands of photos, documents and other large files on a card barely larger than your fingernail. To view these cards on your computer, use either your computer's SD card slot or an SD card adapter.

Instructions

Use the SD Card Slot

1. Insert your SD card into your computer's SD card slot.

2. Allow your computer's autoplay function to find the new media. When the autoplay feature pops up, choose the program of your choice from the menu. If your computer's autoplay function is disabled, you can access the SD's file folder by clicking on "My Computer" or "Computer."

3. Browse through your SD card's files via the file browser window until you find the file you need.

Use an SD Card Adapter

4. Plug the SD card adapter into your computer's USB 2.0 port.

5. Allow the adapter to install the necessary drivers required to view the files on your computer.

6. Remove the adapter after the drivers have properly installed and insert the SD card into the adapter.

7. Plug the SD card adapter back into the computer's USB port.

8. Allow the computer's autoplay function to recognize the new media. Choose the program of your choice to view the files on the card. If you have autoplay disabled on your computer, you can access the SD adapter by clicking on "Computer" or "My Computer."

9. Browse through the SD card's contents until you find the file you need.
