When connecting your PC to your television set, chances are the picture will be skewed out of proportion. Sometimes the resolution will be fuzzy, and you might even notice black bars on the sides of the screen, wasting potential workspace. Getting the best picture when connecting your PC to your TV using any method is a simple process that only takes a few minutes and requires a minimal amount of effort.
Instructions
1. Click the "Start" button on your computer's taskbar and double-click "Control Panel."
2. Type "Change Display Settings" into the search bar at the top of the Control Panel and click "Change Display Settings" when it appears below.
3. Adjust the resolution to the setting that matches your TV's resolution (e.g., 1080 x 768). You can find your TV's resolution in its user manual or on its packaging. In some cases, you can see it when you power the set on. This varies from model to model. If you're not sure and can't find the number, experiment to find the best picture quality and size for your screen. Click "Apply" to save the changes.
4. Click "Advanced settings" and select the "Monitor" tab. Set the screen refresh rate to the highest number possible. While on this menu, set the color to the highest possible number using the drop-down list under "Colors." Click "Apply" and "OK" to confirm and save the changes.
5. Click the "Color Management" button under the "Color Management" tab, then click the "Advanced" tab in the "Color Management" menu and click the "Calibrate Display" button. Windows will run you through a process to further calibrate your display. Follow any on-screen prompts until the process is complete.
