Format Information On My Sim Card

A Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card is a portable card used in certain models of cellular telephone to store personal identification information. This information may include the cell phone number, phone book information, text messaging information and other data specific to the model itself. SIM cards are used with service providers that operate on the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) network and can be transferred with relative ease between mobile phones which operate on that same network.

Instructions

1. Install the Sim Doctor application onto your computer. Sim Doctor is a free application for Windows machines, available for download as of August 2010 from GSMSecurity.net.

2. Connect your card reader via USB port and open up the Sim Doctor application on the computer. The program will automatically detect the card reader after it launches.

3. Insert the SIM card into the card reader and select "Speed Factor" in the Sim Doctor main application window. "Auto" will be automatically selected as a default recommendation. This setting will find the optimal speed for reading this particular SIM card.

4. Click "Start" in the dialog window to initiate the reading of the SIM card. The initial calculation will be completed in 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours running at high speed. The completion percentage will show in the progress bar. Once the calculations are complete, a new dialog window will open showing the IMSI, KI and PIN1 information.
