Open a Canon A-1 Camera and Load Film
While photography has largely transitioned from film to digital technology, film cameras remain popular among professional and amateur photographer alike. While many people prefer the convenience and ease of use inherent in digital cameras, many photographers, artists, and hobbyists continue to use film. Film cameras are, on the whole, less complicated and less expensive than an equivalent digital camera. Among the more popular film cameras is the Canon A-1.
Instructions
1. Open the back of the camera by folding out the rewind crank and pulling the rewind knob up until the film door releases.
2. Place the film in the film cartridge chamber on the left side of the camera with the spindle of the film cartridge facing down. Push the rewind knob down until it engages the film canister.
3. Pull the film leader, the bit of film that protrudes from the canister, across the camera and insert the leader into any slot on the multi-slot take-up spool.
4. Using the film advance lever, advance the film once. Make sure the sprocket holes are lined up with the teeth of the film take-up sprocket. Once the film is engaged with the multi-slot take-up spool and film take-up sprocket, close the camera back.
5. Shoot two blank pictures, advancing the film each time with the film advance lever, until the frame counter advances from "S" to "0".
