Diy Pvc Speaker Stands

Make stands out of PVC pipe.

If you happen to be low on cash and are looking for a way to get sturdy stands for your home speakers, you may want to think about building them out of common PVC pipe. These plastic pieces of piping are strong enough to hold speakers if connected properly, and the best part is that they are inexpensive. Even if you don't know much about constructing home appliances, you'll be pleased to find that building your own speaker stands out of PVC pipe will only take a few minutes of your time.

Instructions

1. Use four PVC elbow joints, T-joints and lengths of pipe to form a square around the base of the speaker. Make sure that the square is only slightly smaller than the bottom of the speaker. Use an electric saw if necessary to cut the lengths of pipe down to size. This will be the top of your stand.

2. Form a separate square out of your pipes and joints about twice the size of the top of the stand. Place a T-joint in the middle of each side of the square. This will be the base of your stand and the T-joints will hold the legs.

3. Use epoxy glue around the ends of each piece of piping that connects to an elbow joint or T-joint on the base of the stand. Make sure the holes in the T-joints are facing straight up.

4. Glue the ends of four lengths of pipe and place them into the tops of the T-joints. These pieces of pipe can be as long as you'd like--just make sure they are all equal size, as they are the legs of the stand.

5. Pour 1 cup of sand into each of the four legs to stabilize them.

6. Glue the ends of the T-joints, elbow joints and lengths of pipe of the top of the stand together at the ends. Make sure the T-joints are facing straight down, as these will connect to the legs.

7. Glue the tops of the legs and bend them inward to fit them into the T-joints in the top of the stand. Let the glue dry and you are done. You can spray paint the stand the color of your choice if you don't like the standard white color of the PVC pipe.
