There are several disadvantages to using a cell phone.
Cell phones can be great for getting in contact with people while you're on-the-go, keeping up with work email, surfing the web and, in some cases, carrying your music collection. While cell phones have many advantage,s there are also several disadvantages to owning a cell phone.
Microwave Rays
Cell phones receive a signal using microwave rays, which can be harmful to humans if they are exposed to them for a long period of time. As of March 2010, the safety standards for cell phones regarding microwave radiation are fairly minimal, making it possible for consumers to be exposed to a great deal of radiation from their phones each day.
Always Being in Contact
With a landline phone you can always be "out of the office" or "away from the phone" and put off phone calls until you want to deal with them. A cell phone makes it possible for people to reach you no matter where you are, no matter what time of day it is; in theory, making you always available to receive calls.
Battery Life
Most traditional landline phones do not require batteries to operate, making it possible to use them indefinitely--even during a power outage. All cell phones run on batteries. In the event of the lengthy power outage, a cell phone battery will eventually die, making it impossible to place phones calls and potentially create a life-threatening situation should an emergency phone call need to be made.
Distractions
Cell phones allow users to talk on the phone while they're on-the-go. Talking on the cell phone can cause a distraction particularly when doing things such as driving. That distraction can lead to making mistakes, and car accidents.
Poor Reception
Mobile phones are limited by the coverage area of their mobile phone provider. Limited coverage can mean that you can lose, or drop, a call while you're in the middle of talking to someone, or are unable to get a connection in certain areas.
