There are several methods available for connecting a video camera to your computer and television.
Although there are many video camera created by the Canon electronics company, there is usually three different methods available for connecting the equipment to a computer system or television. Although not all televisions and computers have the same available connection ports there is always one method the Canon video camera possess that is going to work with your equipment.
Instructions
1. Insert the USB data cable into the USB port on the Canon video camera. Plug the other end of the cable into one of the USB ports on the computer system. Power on the Canon video camera and set it to "Playback." The computer now detects the video camera.
2. Check the computer for a FireWire connection port. This is about the same size as a USB connection, only one side of the port is curved and there is a "Y" shaped logo printed next to it. FireWire provides a faster data transfer than USB. Plug the FireWire cable into the FireWire port on the Canon video camera, then plug the other end of the cable into the FireWire port on the computer. Power on the video camera and set it to "Playback" for the video camera to detect the hardware.
3. Insert the 3.5mm end of the 3.5mm to RCA cable into the "Video Out" port on the Canon video camera. This connection is made specifically for television connections. Plug the RCA audio/video end of the cable into the "Video In" port on the television. Power on the TV and the video camera, then set the video camera to "Playback." Push "Video" on the TV's remote control and the information from the video camera appear on the television's screen.
